Certification
An IOSH Managing safely certificate is awarded to all those who attend the course and successfully complete both the written and practical assessments.
The CITB Site Safety Plus Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) health and safety course is one of the most highly regarded training courses within the construction industry available for site managers and supervisors, taken by more than 10,000 people each year.
The SMSTS training course helps site managers (and anyone wanting to become a site manager) to develop a better understanding of the legal, moral and social responsibilities of their role, and to manage health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions.
The course lasts five days. During the SMSTS training course, candidates must pass core exercises. At the end of the training course, candidates sit an examination in order to qualify for the CITB certificate.
The SMSTS certificate lasts for five years, after which candidates must sit the two day SMSTS Refresher Course to renew the certificate and keep their qualification up to date. The two-day SMSTS Refresher training course is only available for candidates who have attended the full five-day training course and can provide evidence of attending the original course.
The industry recognized SMSTS training course is ideal for companies that need to meet the ever increasing demand for evidence of health and safety compliance.

Who will benefit from attending the course?
The SMSTS training course is intended for project managers, site managers and site supervisors as well as proprietors of small to medium sized companies. Client-based personnel would also benefit from attending the SMSTS training course. Possession of the CITB SMSTS qualification is listed in the Approved Code of Practice for the construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations as a demonstration of competence in the role of site manager.
Course Duration – 5-days
N.B It must be stressed to all course attendees the need to attend ALL sessions since without full attendance the examining body will not award the CITB SMSTS Construction Site Managers Safety Certificate.
The Health and Safety Executive accredited First Aid at Work Course (FAW) is the most utilized course in the country across all industries. The course is regulated and is a requirement as laid down in the First Aid Regulations.
The First Aid at Work Course (FAW) training course helps anyone wanting to become a First Aider to develop a better understanding of the legal, moral and social responsibilities of their role, and to manage the First Aid provision and application on site or in the office in accordance with current legal provisions.
The course lasts three days. During the First Aid at Work Course (FAW) training course, candidates must pass core assessments . At the end of the training course, candidates sit an examination in order to qualify for the FAW certificate.
Course Content
The First Aid at Work Course (FAW course covers The Health & Safety at Work Act and the First Aid regulations relevant to all Industry (and other workplaces),the course content will enable the successful learner to:
- Understand the role of the first aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions; including knowing the importance of basic hygiene in first-aid procedures;
- Manage emergency situations and communications and undertake patient surveys and understand levels of response.
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is conscious/unconscious, in seizure, wounded or bleeding and/or in shock; who is choking and provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries
Understand the symptoms of poisoning and treatments
As well as:
- Recognising the presence of major illness and applying general first aid principles in its management.
- Demonstrate the correct first-aid management of soft tissue injuries; injuries to bones including suspected spinal injuries;
- Be competent in administering Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
- Have practicable ability in applying bandages, slings and pressure pads
The 2 Day Refresher is for qualified First Aiders and covers all the above but in less detail due to experience.
The Paediatric First Aid at Work Course has been much sought after over the few years and is a pre requirement for any person in paid employment looking after children. Not only is It an integral part of the NVQ in child care , it is for parents, grandparents, volunteers , in fact any one that comes into contact on a regular basis with children
The course lasts two days. During the Paediatric First Aid at Work Course First Aid at Work Course training course, candidates must pass core assessments. At the end of the training course, candidates sit an examination in order to qualify for the certificate.

Qualification objectives
The NOCN Level 6 Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations Management is for learners who work in, or who want to work in the construction and the built environment sector.
The NOCN Level 6 Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations Management is designed for technical people working at a senior level in a wide range of job roles, for example senior estimator, senior quantity surveyor, senior buyer, senior planner. They will have responsibility for other people in their area of occupation.
This qualification is suitable for people who might be site-based and who have responsibility for functions such as dimensional control, surveys, physical testing and work planning. The qualification covers all sections of the construction cycle, including all forms of construction and civil engineering, and includes functions such as maintenance and demolition, and companies specialising in a single operation such as roofing, plastering and shop fitting.
